We had great turnouts at each of our membership event and are building momentum here at the beginning of the year. Our Membership total is at 78 registered brothers with Delta and Tau leading the charge with 14 members each. Our first fundraiser of the year “Super Bowl Squares” was a big hit. We raised funds to help us with our yearly operations costs and Our second fundraiser starts next week with our March Madness Bracketology. Be on the lookout for the details. We have a lot planned for March including our Annual Conejo Picnic which is our first family event of the year. We will have good food, Easter egg hunt, and fun for the whole family. We end the month with a happy hour event in the Colony on the 87th day of the year. We hope to see you all at these events and hope you enjoy what this brotherhood is about. Mike's Farewell

Chairman's Message: 

Happy Holidays brothers! 

As they say,  all good things must come to an end.

This month's newsletter marks the end of my 2 years as Chairman of the DFWAA! I hope that you all have enjoyed these newsletters, and our event programming over the last two years, as much as I have enjoyed planning them for yall. 

What will Mike do with all of his new found free time? Well, I do plan to keep involved under whoever takes up the mantle of chairman next year but will step back as Linda and I are planning our wedding late 2023! Woot! 

This section of the newsletter has always been a cathartic one for me. While I do not know how many of you actually read it in its entirety, if you have found yourself scrolling through, I would like to thank you for taking the time out of your day to check-in with our brotherhood.

It can be too easy to lose hours running from meeting to meeting, too easy to lose days running the same weekly errands, and all too easy for those lost weeks to turn into months or even years. Do me a favor... Take a deep breath. Enjoy the moment. Maybe send a text to your Big bro, your little bro, chapter bro, or even a friend from your college days. I'll leave it to you to figure out the message. This organization brought us all together for a reason, and I am ever grateful to have you all in my life because of it.

November Wrap up

DFWAA Community Raise over $3000 to provide Thanksgiving Meals to families in need! 

We would like to thank every single person who donated to our annual Thanksgiving Drive this year, which benefitted the students of Dewitt Perry Middle School. Special thanks to brother, Long Le, for spearheading this effort, Billy Macklin for getting us connected with the sponsored school, and Brother Bryan Rodriguez for getting us set up with Kroger and our turkeys for the drive. Many thanks to the administration and staff at Perry MS for facilitating this drive. Thanks to your generosity, we were able to ensure over 25 families were able to celebrate a Thanksgiving feast together. Thank you to all of those who donated time or money to this amazing effort. Happy Thanksgiving to all!!

The Annual Turkey Bowl Crowns Its 2022 CHAMPION!!!

Thank you to everyone that was able to come out to our annual Turkey Bowling Tournament in Arlington last month. Brothers, 87 FAM, and DFWAA community members had a great time enjoying Whiskey samples, ZaLat Pizza, and of course getting the chance to compete in our Turkey Bowling Tournament!

Competition was FIERCE this year, as it all came down to a showdown between defending Champion, Zach "Wreck'n Bowls" Dominguez and Tau brother/event organizer Roy Ferretiz. In a NAIL BITING set of last frames, Roy narrowly picked up a spare to close out his round. Unfortunately for Zach, his hopes of a 2nd year's victory were TARNISHED as he failed to knock down the dreaded 7-10 split.

Congratulations to our 2022 CHAMPION ROY "Shake-In-Bake" FERRETIZ.

Monthly DFWAA Meeting

DFWAA MEMBER ELECTIONS ARE HERE

Below are your 2023 candidates. Please plan to attend this meeting in person or virtually if you plan to run for a chair and help our organization grow over the next year! 

Positions available include:

1. Chairman:  Public Leader of organization, leads meetings, works with other chairs to ensure monthly tasks and deadlines are reached

2. Vice Chairman: Assists Chairman with delegation of tasks, runs meetings and acts a lead in Chairman's absence

3. Treasurer: Updates monthly budget, collects receipts, provides bank account updates

4. Community Engagement  Chair (Social): Plans social events, and membership Drives

5. Community Service Chair: Plans Service events and Fundraisers

6. Scholarship Chair: Arranges distribution of scholarship material to schools, organizes the reading, grading, and awarding of annual scholarships.

7. Knights Classic Chair: Organizes Knights Classic Golf Tournament, plans budget,  seeks out donors, and promotes attendance.

8. Public Relations/ Social Media: Schedules social media posts

9. Historian: Documents events by taking photos and attendance.

10. Fundraising Chair: Plans and organizes DFWAA fundraising events for operational budget.

11. Graduation Gala: Plans June Gala, meets with hotel personnel, sets budget,  purchases awards, and promotes attendance. 

12. Chaplain: Checks on brotherhood wellness. Guides member with monthly advise to help us keep aligned with our Values of Unity, Honesty, Integrity, and Leadership.
